Dr. William Hanuschock, Research Fellow
William E. Hanuschock, III, Ed.D., CTVI, COMS, CATIS, joined AFB as a Research Fellow in August 2024. Additionally, he is a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments, Orientation and Mobility Specialist, and an Assistive Technology Specialist with the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children in the Outreach Department.
William earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from PennWest University – California in 2018 with concentrations in Secondary Mathematics Education and Secondary Special Education. He then earned his Master’s Degree in Education in 2020 from Drexel University - Elkins Park Campus with concentrations in Teaching of Students with Visual Impairments and Multiple Disabilities. Finally, he completed his Doctorate in Education from Slippery Rock University in May 2026 with a research concentration in visual impairments and assistive technology. His dissertation consisted of a mixed-methods case study that examined teachers’ observations of and influences on the assistive technology behaviors of students with visual impairments.
William’s additional research interests include assistive technology motivational strategies, assistive technology integration for professional practice, Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) integration for secondary students with visual impairments, healthcare inclusion for those with visual impairments, and combining pharmaceutical and educational supports for individuals with visual impairments.
