Are you blind or low-vision and looking to kick-start a research career? AFB’s Research Fellowship Program offers an exciting opportunity for graduate students and recent grads who are blind or have low vision to build hands-on experience doing impactful research under the direction of blind mentors.

Program Details

Eligibility

  • Be a current graduate student (master’s, Ph.D., Ed.D., Psy.D., etc.) or have recently graduated with a master’s or doctoral degree with less than 3 years of post-graduation research experience.
  • Have at least 1 semester of experience doing human subjects research.
  • Self-identify as a person who is blind or has low vision.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.

Key Dates

  • Applications Open: Monday June 16, 2025
  • Applications Close: Friday July 18, 2025, 11:59 p.m. ET
  • Fellow Selections Made: Friday August 15, 2025
  • Program Term: Tuesday, September 2, 2025 — Friday, June 26, 2026
