AccuWeather to Provide Emergency Weather Alert Information to the Blind and Print-Disabled via NFB-NEWSLINE

The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) and its newspaper service for the blind, NFB-NEWSLINE, have announced a collaboration with AccuWeather, an online weather information service, to provide emergency weather alerts to blind and print-disabled subscribers throughout America. NFB-NEWSLINE is a free audible information access service that provides over 300 newspapers and magazines to the blind.

AccessNote Updated to Version 1.2

The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) is proud to announce that its notetaking app for the iOS platform, AccessNote, has been updated to version 1.2. AccessNote is designed to take advantage of the accessibility features of the Apple iOS. AccessNote has a clean and uncluttered interface, and it uses standard iOS elements so that a VoiceOver user can quickly operate the app using Apple's VoiceOver screen reader. With AccessNote, AFB is striving to bring the efficiency of a conventional standalone notetaker to iOS.

The American Foundation for the Blind's (AFB) CareerConnect Program launched its new CareerConnect Blog on July 1st. AFB CareerConnect is a member of the AFB family of websites. The program provides career exploration, employment information, e-mentoring, and tips and advice on navigating the employment process as a person who is blind or visually impaired.
