  I lost my right eye about 2 years ago . But now i am trouble with my left eye . An the vision in it is being be hard to see thru it too .

  I lost vision in my left eye on 11/25/07. I went to the ER and they admitted me and pumped me full of steroids. I had several MRI tests and was told I had optic neuritis due to taking HUMIRA, a rheumatoid arthritis medicine I've been injecting for four years. They told me it was a very rare case, and that there was nothing I could really do. Naturally I have stopped the HUMIRA, and my arthritis flares have returned, so I'm unable to walk around. IVIG treatment was suggested, but my insurance denied the medication, because it was considered experimental and investigational. Plasmaphresis was also talked about and I have not explored that avenue yet. I am now paying for IVIG myself and my first treatment was 2 weeks ago. I have not noticed any significant change, but I have 5 more treatments to go. My rhuematologist won't give me anything significant because she does not want to mix drugs with IVIG. She put me on methotrexate (chemo drug) for my arthritis, but it does not help. She said she would start me on Rituxan when I finish with my IVIG try. Meanwhile I'm hobbling. I also went to see an acupuncture doctor to see if that would help. It definitely helped with my shoulder stiffness. I plan to keep trying the acupuncture. It's been 4 months now and I'm adjusting fairly well. Hey... I still have my right eye and prayer.

  I've found out on 9/27/08 that I am legally blind in my right eye. I guess since I was a kid this happened, but as an adult now it kinda hurts. I asked my doctor about any programs here in Michigan that can help me out, but she said I have to go to a medical doctor. I really want to get back into playing sports ( basketball, tennis, softball) but now what? :-(

  I've been on S>S. diability since I turned 59, now I'am 63 and being revued by them to see if my vision is any better.I was in car accident with head injuries and have dead spots in my vision. what can I expect fron Social Security?
