Steve Kaye, Ph.D., Senior Accessibility Design Consultant

Steve has extensive experience in designing, prototyping, and testing software products for accessibility and usability. His experience extends from embedded systems and PC applications to websites and web applications. His strengths include design for the disabled, heuristic software evaluation, and usability testing methodologies.

Jeff Witt, Senior Accessibility and Usability Consultant

Jeff has over ten years experience with accessibility and usability testing, project management, and user interface design. He leads usability studies for accessibility technology products in development. He advises clients on optimal design for products to be used by blind, low vision, and aging populations. His vast experience expands from web applications to media, and communication devices.

Amy R. Salmon, Senior Accessibility Consultant

Amy has significant experience in providing access technology training for people who are disabled. She also provides consulting services related to web site and mainstream product accessibility. She has developed customized training programs for various access technologies including mainstream computer programs and computer access software.

Darren Burton, Senior Accessibility Consultant

Since losing his eyesight in 1993, Darren has been extensively involved in accessibility and usability of assistive technologies and electronic and information technologies. He led accessibility and usability evaluations of a variety of consumer electronic products and services at AFB. He is a regular writer and presenter in accessibility-related journals, newsletters, and conferences.

Bradley Hodges, Senior Accessibility Consultant

Brad joined the AFB staff in October, 2005. His professional interest in assistive technology spans more than 15 years. Beginning at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, he joined the academic staff of the Center for rehabilitation Technology. During his 10 years of development of a wide array of assistive technology, he gained significant recognition. In 2001, Brad became Technology Accessibility Manager for the National Federation of the Blind. While at NFB, he conducted research, assisted blind individuals in the use of technology, and advised both assistive technology developers and technology industry leaders.

Jim Denham, Senior Accessibility Consultant

Jim has 10 years experience in access and mainstream technology for people who are blind or visually impaired. He is an expert user of three screen reader applications. He is a highly skilled tester of web site compliance with W3C and Section 508 guidelines. He also has in depth knowledge of industry leading screen magnification software. He is highly knowledgeable in a wide variety of other adaptive and mainstream software and hardware.

Lee Huffman, Accessibility Consultant

Lee has extensive knowledge of low vision assistive technologies through training and personal daily use. He assists in the coordination of the low vision component of the AFB federal grant. Lee evaluates the accessibility and usability of a variety of electronic and information technology products and services. He writes in-depth product evaluations for AccessWorld® magazine and peer-reviewed scientific journals. He joined AFB in 2005, after working for 5 years as an instructor at West Virginia College.
