Talking Book ProductionsTalking Book Productions (TBP), a division of the American Foundation for the Blind, provides world-class audio production for commercial, educational, government, and corporate markets. Since pioneering the development of recorded books in the early 1930s, AFB has produced tens of thousands of Talking Books for the Library of Congress. TBP calls upon the methodologies and production techniques of AFB's 70-year heritage in recording the spoken word to meet the needs of commercial customers. TBP offers state-of-the-art digital recording, editing, and mastering at our New York City facility. TBP's eight studios are equipped with TDM ProTools workstations and state-of-the-art equipment that includes the latest mixing and mastering plug-ins; a large selection of audiophile microphones—including Neumann, Sennheiser, AKG, and EV; high-end analog to digital processors; John Hardy, Grace, Earthworks, Neve, and SSL pre-amps; and Apogee A/D and D/A converters. A wide variety of books are recorded in our studios, from best sellers to classic literature. TBP has been awarded prestigious contracts to exclusively record the most challenging and difficult books. Our success can be attributed in no small part to our experienced managers and dedicated production staff. Our voice talent are a select group of skilled professionals, with wide experience on stage, on the radio, and on television. Many have extensive knowledge of foreign languages, and specialize in dialects or particular accents from around the world. Most have honed their skills through years of reading for TBP, and have recorded hundreds of titles. TBP can provide either full audio book production or any combination of the following services: production management, casting, directing, engineering, recording, proofreading, content development, editing, QC, mastering, audio design, duplication, packaging/design, and fulfillment.
